Hi Angie, Found your message when I googled "Winniatt" which is my maiden name, perhaps we are distantly related!

Hi I wonder if anyone can help me. I am
researching my husbands family who lived in Berry Hill. John James married Ann Gwilliam in 1851 they had 3 children John Sampson, Alfred, & Urusla.John had been a Royal Marine before he married and died a month after his daughteer Urusla died. His wife Ann then Married a William Chamberlain.Ann ran a grocer shop in Weston for a time before she remarried.John Sampson James married Ada Maria Cooper in 1851. I hope there may be some relatives still in the area,or someone may have known of the family. Johns father was Richard a Mason by trade.

In a quick reply to your question about Lodges in Weston under Penyard. I do not know historically but there is a family of that name currently living at The Rudge Farm

I have recently traced my ancestors, mostly to the forest of dean however there seems to be a mention of Lodges in W u P around 1570 and earlier.
If any local historians have come across the name I would be grateful to hear about it.
Many thanks
